Therapy in Littlehampton

Hello and welcome to my website. I hope you will find it helpful, and that by reading it you will get a sense of me and how I work as a therapist and supervisor. My name is Fran. I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist for over 25 years and am a graduate and member of The Guild of Psychotherapists, and also a registered member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy). Do have a look at my About Me page for more details about my qualifications and experience.

You may be looking at my website because you feel alone with your problems and you can’t see a way forward. You might feel that you are talking too much about something and that friends and family are getting fed up. Talking to a therapist is different from talking to friends or family who might have their own opinion about what is going on. The therapist is a trained professional who will listen without judging and help you find a way through your problems.

The sort of difficulties people struggle with are:–

  • Depression
  • Anxiety & stress
  • Abuse
  • Bereavement
  • Family & relationship difficulties
  • Lack of self esteem & confidence
  • Domestic violence
  • Ill-health in self or a family member
  • Work problems
  • Personal development

Depression can feel bleak, hopeless and miserable and is very common. I have written separately about depression, so please have a look at my Depression page.

My Counselling page will give you information about the difference between counselling and psychotherapy and about my philosophy and practice as a therapist. My training background is analytic/psychodynamic, but over the years I have been influenced by humanistic philosophies and I integrate these into my approach. I consider the therapeutic relationship to be central to beneficial therapy, and offer a relational style of counselling.

My sole purpose and aim is to enable you to develop self-understanding and personal insight. The counselling process is about providing time for yourself in a safe and confidential setting which will enable you to explore what’s on your mind and find a way forward.

In addition to therapy I also offer clinical supervision and professional support for qualified and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists, and also other health and social care professionals. I work with individuals and groups. Taking time to find the right supervisor for you is very important, as it supports your work and helps you develop. I have a direct, warm and approachable style which includes sensitive challenges where I think this will be helpful. My Supervision page will give you details about my experience and how I work as a supervisor, do have a look.

Contact Me

Finding the right therapist or supervisor for you is very important. I see the relationship as the thing which cements therapy and supervision and makes it workable.
